I am an impulse shopper, especially when it comes to groceries. Today it was butterscotch chips. A week ago it was rosebuds. About two months ago it was lavender flowers. My baking pantry is full of random and delicious shopping whims. Yep, you can borrow way more than just a cup of sugar from me. Does this earn me cool neighbor brownie points? One can only hope.
With today’s recipe, I finally used up some of my lavender. I surprised myself with how tasty these cookies turned out! The floral taste of lavender (with a hint of blueberry) is balanced by the rich, dark chocolate flavor. A touch of sea salt baked into the chocolate half puts these beauties over the edge. Make them. You won’t regret it.
I have to give credit where credit is due. My dear friend Ashley inspired this flavor combination. During a visit to (the splendid) Jeni’s, she paired the dark chocolate and lavender ice cream together. It was so good that I decided to re-create the experience in cookie form.

Now eat em’ up (and maybe share with friends, earn those brownie points).

I like everything else. : )

Well, it is not for everyone but I have had people doubt the combo and be pleasantly surprised. :) I personally love it, but the beauty of these cookies is that they allow for easy variation. They are equally good with a plain vanilla counterpart or you can get creative (maybe orange, caramel or ginger is more your style, for instance). Thanks for reading!
those look amazing and so delicious!!!!! A bake shop is definitely in your future! :-)
