I feel a heaviness dissolving,
a weightiness,
like a hardened ball of sand that
has finally given itself
over to the ins~and~outs
of the waves.
Waves that were
always there
waiting patiently
for the
un
doing
to occur.
I feel the cemented particles
easing their way free,
palms spreading wide,
sand slipping through
the cracks that
once gave the glue
something to cling to.
I feel the individual grains
making
their way
down,
floating languorously,
layer by layer,
dusting by dusting,
towards the
ocean floor—
the same one that’s always been
there,
waiting to catch
whatever
is
ready
to
fall,
itself
merely
an accumulation of what’s
fallen before.
